Starting Up a Food Business workshop March 4 in Huntsville – relocating to Biztech

Thinking about starting a food business with a favorite family recipe or vegetables from your garden? We’re bringing our favorite kitchen incubator team from Florence for a workshop on Tuesday, March 4th, on how to fire up your own culinary enterprise.

The Shoals Commercial Culinary Center has been helping entrepreneurs get started with their food-related businesses for over 20 years, coaching new businesses and providing space in a certified kitchen. Learn from Giles McDaniel, Executive Director, and chef Kevin Kilburn about the regulations for production and packaging, marketing ideas, and steps to getting your business off the ground. This event, open to the public, is hosted by Rosita’s Farm and friends, including the Alabama A&M Small Farms Research Center, Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network, the Food Bank of North Alabama, the North Alabama Revolving Loan Fund, and the ICE Lab at the College of Business Administration at The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

THE VENUE HAS CHANGED! We’ll be at Biztech, 515 Sparkman Dr NW in Huntsville. It’s across the street from UAH. We’ll open the doors at 5:30 and get our speakers on at 6 pm.

Good Agricultural Practices training, January 23 in Hartselle

We’re hosting a live GAP inspection at the farm on January 23. Come on over and see Jonathan Austin from Americert grill Karen on her farm food safety practices. We’ll have a valuable discussion of how to think about the potential sources of contaminants on the farm.
